About
Avrey Smith
Avrey Smith is a Chicago-area DJ, artist, producer, and creative whose career has always lived at the intersection of music, culture, and performance.
Avrey first built his foundation as a recording artist, developing an independent career that included original music, mixtapes, live performances, an independent record deal, and two national television appearances on BET’s 106 & Park in 2011. His 2010 mixtape, "No Apologies", became a defining project from that era, showcasing an early ability to reinterpret familiar records while bringing his own personality, perspective, and creativity to them.
That same instinct for reimagining music eventually became a defining part of his work as a DJ.
Blending R&B, hip-hop, pop, house, nostalgia, sports culture, television themes, and unexpected records, Avrey has developed a style built around connections people don’t see coming. His original edits and mashups extend that creativity beyond the booth, transforming familiar songs and cultural moments into something entirely new.
Behind the decks, that same approach translates into versatility. Avrey can move seamlessly between eras and genres while reading the room and maintaining the energy of the moment. From nightlife and special events to weddings, private celebrations, corporate experiences, and custom projects, his focus is less about simply playing records and more about creating an experience people remember.
Today, Avrey brings together more than a decade of experience as an artist and performer with the instincts of a DJ, producer, and content creator. Whether he's controlling a room, building a custom mashup, or creating music around a brand, event, or cultural moment, the goal remains the same: understand the audience, find the connection, and make it memorable.
For Avrey, DJing isn’t a reinvention. It’s an evolution.
The microphone, the studio, the stage, and the turntables have simply been different chapters of the same story.
